The tournament will feature 8 million dollars in prize money.
Epic announced weeks ago that there would begin to be sanctioned tournaments. Most of the announcement featured around solo and duo tournaments, while the much anticipated (or maligned) squad style Fortnite tournaments were left up in the air.
With the Summer Skirmish announcement, Epic has finally given the people what they want. A duos tournament that will feature some of the best in the world.
We are excited to announce that this summer Epic Games will host the Summer Skirmish series. We’re kicking off an 8-week series of competitions where we’ll be awarding $8,000,000 in prize money. The events start this weekend with a $250,000 Duos competition. Participants will be made up of community creators and Fortnite players who have demonstrated their competitive prowess. The format and competitors may change from week-to-week, so stay on your toes!

This announcement, a day before season 5 is set to release, is interesting timing. Part of the timing could be released to FaZe releasing info about the tournament and details that they wouldn’t be included.
The confirmation of the best duo team in the world being left out, FaZe TFUE and Cloak, was confirmed by Cloak himself.

The FaZe information is weird for a variety of reasons. But the fact that an Epic sanctioned tournament is here, is great news for all Fortnite fans.
